MN Moose Knuckles trades $6 MLB Budget

to

DTC Porkchop Express for 3rd Round MLB Pick

MN Moose Knuckles trade grade: B-
DTC Porkchop Express trade grade: C-

Trade Summary:
This trade ended up being a lose-lose. Somehow, the MN Moose Knuckles were still left over with $17. He ended up using about the same amount of auction budget as The BamO’s and all he got in return was Lucas Giolito at the top of the snake draft with his leftover budget. If Hall hadn’t traded that $6, there’s a bunch of great talent he could have gotten around the $20 budget mark, but this was generally draft mismanagement for him to not have spent that remaining $17 anyways.

For DTC Porkchop Express, he had extra snake capital and he really wanted to be able to target some young guns in the auction to build a freshly tanking roster. But even still, he never used the $6 that Hall gave him. Instead of taking a slew of players that went for $5-$9, he just got left over with $9 MLB Budget. He took an early pick and ended up with Jonathan India – a nice hunk, but a big reach considering he already had a 2nd Basemen (Albies) and the fact that there was legit awesome talent left over in the snake. DTC Porkchop Express has suddenly doubled down on the 2nd least impactful position in fantasy baseball, and is an early contender to be the worst team in MLB League of Leagues.

Shepherd Goods Choppers trades Mike Trout ($24)

to

Sporty Strauss for $22 MLB Budget

SG Choppers trade grade: D
Sporty Strauss trade grade: A

Trade Summary:
The stakes for this trade aren’t very high, that’s for sure. But Jordan still lit $2 MLB on fire. Instead of doing that, he could have traded for a guy like Terance Mann to help his playoff push. At the end of the MLB season, $2 MLB was COVETED by so many teams, and Dye just decided it didn’t matter.

But at least he didn’t double down on drafting Mike Trout. He just took the money and spent it elsewhere on players that he really liked.

Ornery Otters trades $3 MLB Budget

to

Shepherd Goods Choppers for 3rd Round MLB Pick

Ornery Otters trade grade: A
Shepherd Goods Trade trade grade: F-

Trade Summary:
This may have been the worst trade so far in the League of Leagues, and that’s saying a lot. Inexplicably, the SG Choppers felt like they needed an extra $3 MLB for some reason, despite giving $2 away to Sporty Strauss for no reason. He traded his 3rd Round pick away, a premium asset that would be valued at $7 or $8 MLB Budget (and maybe more). Then he ended up with $11 remaining and had his second choice. Nobody behind him picked prospect picks, so he likely would have been okay spending that money on a player.

He did end up with Adley Rutschman in the prospect draft potentially because of this, so that’s what will decide the final grade of this move by the Choppers.

$traight Cash Homie trades 2nd Round MLB Pick

to

Sporty Strauss for $7

$traight Cash Homie trade grade: D+
Sporty Strauss trade grade: A+

Trade Summary:
This was a home run move for Sporty Strauss, who picked up a pick that ended in the mid-2nd. We’ll see what that player turns into, but it is likely better than anyone Sporty Strauss could have gotten with $7 budget. Sporty Strauss ended up with $1 budget remaining, so this was a shrewd, shrewd move.

For $traight Cash Homie, he wanted the flexibility in the draft to get guys that he wanted, but – a common theme here – he didn’t end up using that budget! He had $8 remaining and could have cleaned it all out. The remaining budget got him Aaron Judge, a great pick at that point in the draft. But this was not the best way of getting there.
