DK Metcalf Trade

(4/4/22)

Wait ‘Til Next Year trades Gabriel Davis (WR, Bills), Matt Ryan (QB, Colts) and 1st Round MLB Draft Pick

to

MN Moose Knuckles for DK Metcalf (WR, Seahawks) and 23rd Round MLB Draft Pick

Wait ‘Til Next Year trade grade: C
MN Moose Knuckles trade grade: B+

Trade Summary:
Even though he ‘lost’ this trade, Wait ‘Til Next Year was smart to try to get this trade in now. As the NFL season nears, the competition for getting keeper deals done is going to increase with the amount of sellers out there trying to peddle excess keepers off. The question just what Wait ‘Til Next Year had to give up.

Selling Gabriel Davis and Matt Ryan, in a vacuum, make sense. But those are valuable assets in the League of Leagues right now. Gabriel Davis is ranked 108th right now. Matt Ryan is ranked 121st. Both are firm keepers, though both have long-term value.

Yes, DK Metcalf is an AWESOME young player who should have a better QB situation after this year. But Ryan should have 2 or 3 years left in his career, and Gabriel Davis is a young wide receiver on the Super Bowl favorite team. And on top of that, the MN Moose Knuckles got a 1st Round Pick in a future year – the first ever to be traded.

Most importantly, the MN Moose Knuckles got ONE starting QB. That gives him flexibility as the season draws near. It gives him at least one option, and he won’t have to sell out just be roster compliant. It sucks trading low, like MN Moose Knuckles thought DK Metcalf was, but this was a necessary deal for the MN Moose Knuckles to make.

What’s the most interesting part of this deal, right now, is that the MN Moose Knuckles and Wait ‘Til Next Year can now be considered two of the favorites to win NEXT YEAR’S League of League Title. Both are expected to finish top-3 right now, and Hall’s draft pick war chest could make the difference.
