Trade Summary:
DeMar DeRozan scored 39 points a game for DTC Porkchop Express. He’s an MVP candidate. Now, on the night DTC Porkchop Express just clinched a BYE, he pawns him off to the likely winner of the League of Leagues, Sporty Strauss.
There’s a few things to keep in mind with this trade: one, DTC Porkchop Express just doesn’t feel like he can catch Sporty Strauss as the winner this season. That’s not wrong, and it’s refreshing to see the self-awareness of a contender making sly moves. Two, if Sporty Strauss wins NBA, that decreases the scoring of some other contenders. MN Moose Knuckles. Wait ‘Til Next Year. Win’s Up Doc. DTC Porkchop Express is betting on his odds in MLB to make up the ground and finish 2nd or 3rd in the season long standings. Three, Craig McCall doesn’t totally care where he finishes if it’s not first. DTC Porkchop Express will likely do these trades every year. They’re going to try and try and try to win the league. When they don’t feel like they can, they’ll start selling out for the next year.
But that’s the problem with this trade: DTC Porkchop Express IS a clear contender this year. There’s no guarantee he’s going to get this close to winning another title anytime in the next few seasons!
Even though CP3 got hurt, DTC Porkchop Express had insurance with Cameron Payne, a player who BALLED out today. Don’t underestimate the effect he will have in next week’s Round 1 Matchup. Payne is a legit part of this deal.
Speaking of that matchup: let’s talk about the big loser of this trade – Win’s Up Doc. All of a sudden Oat is behind the 8-ball. All of a sudden, Win’s Up Doc looks like they’re going to lose a first round playoff matchup despite being the highest scoring team in the league.
Las Cabras are probably a loser as well, though they’re odds of getting 2nd place got higher with DTC Porkchop Express’ slight decline. The BamO’s are probably looking more for trying to place, so this is a win for The BamO’s.
In general, it’s going to be a strange dynamic in the League of Leagues if Sporty Strauss makes the Championship Game in baseball. The stakes for winning MLB are going to be significantly depreciated, and win-now players won’t be as valuable.
This trade could change the League of Leagues in strange ways, but it’s a bummer DTC Porkchop Express is hiding away instead of going toe-to-toe with Sporty Strauss. They are likely going to play each other in the 2nd round of this year’s playoffs.
