Trade Summary:
This is an utterly fascinating trade. Finally awoken from his trade slumber, GM Jordan Dye trades away the likely pick of Chet Holmgren at NBA2 for the potential of Jaden Ivey or Jabari Smith at NBA4. In return, he gets an ALMOST-premium NBA asset (top of the 3rd round) and Pat Freiermuth, the single most underrated player right now in the League of Leagues.
By taking a TE, the Choppers have freed themselves up to go after position players in the LoL draft. They have 3 QBs and a TE, so RBs and WRs will be hitting that roster like bricks from a Craig McCall jump shot. They’ll come fast and heavy, and he’s currently projected to get Garrett Wilson and Alexander Mattison in the first couple rounds of the snake. Taking that TE lets him draft value with his two 3rd round picks.
For DTC Porkchop Express, this is all about elite talent. Chet Holmgren is still ranked as the top rookie on Hashtagbasketball, and it afford DTC Porkchop Express the opportunity to tank if the opportunity presents itself. This does significantly hinder Craig’s league prognosis THIS season, but that was in question anyways. He was projected to be mid-tier.
Now the question remains… does DTC Porkchop Express trade for Calvin Ridley and Deshaun Watson and commit to the tank? Or does he try to give his solid NFL team a shot at competing in a moderate NFL League of Leagues division next season.
On the other side, the Choppers are officially the league’s dark horse. If they can scrape by in football again this season, Jordan Dye’s NBA team clearly moves into the upper echelon of NBA squads. Especially if Ivey, the presumptive favorite for his NBA pick, strikes gold… the Choppers could be an absolute force in the NBA.
