‘22 NFL Draft Trade Grades

(9/6/22)

MN Moose Knuckles trades

  • 2.02 Pick (George Pickens)

  • 3.10 Pick (Zamir White)

to

Sporty Strauss for

  • 1.10 Pick (Kenny Pickett)

Sporty Strauss trade grade: A
MN Moose Knuckles trade grade: A

Trade Summary:
At first one had to wonder if this is the MN Moose Knuckles’ justification to take QB Kenny Pickett with one of his first two picks. Moving up only 4 spots probably allows him to draft a QB, WR and then a RB with Strauss’ 10th overall selection.

It’s was an overpay, but not an egregious overpay. And when Kenny Pickett slid to 10th overall, this became a home run deal for the MN Moose Knuckles who desperately needed young QB options to add to a team that was starting to rebuild.

And Sporty Strauss still landed George Pickens, the player he would have taken at 1.10 anyways if Pickett wasn’t there, so this was a home run deal for both sides.

MN Moose Knuckles trades

  • Dalton Schultz

to

Win’s Up Doc for

  • 3.06 (Jalen Tolbert)

  • Carlos Correa (SS, Twins)

Win’s Up Doc trade grade: D+
MN Moose Knuckles trade grade: A

Trade Summary:
This is a lot to give up for Dalton Schultz, but it’s not the end of the world. This trade essentially gives Win’s Up Doc 11 keepers and afforded him the opportunity to focus on other positions in the draft. However, Win’s Up Doc was still able to end up with David Njoku a couple of rounds later and the gap between Schultz and that tier isn’t particularly high.

But it’s unclear if Oat would have gotten anything for Correa anyways, so making a move now still makes some sense. But it still feels like he’s leaving meat on the bone here.

The BamO’s trades

  • 5.03 NFL Pick (Trey McBride)

  • 4.03 NBA Pick (39th Overall)

to

Las Cabras for

  • 4.04 NFL Pick (DJ Chark)

The BamO’s trade grade: F-
Las Cabras trade grade: A++++++++

Trade Summary:
The BamO’s are at it again!! Another one of the worst trades in League of Leagues history. The BamO’s don’t have either their first or second round picks in NBA, so they’ve been slowly accumulating 4th round picks throughout the season just to give them some options to compete.

But low and behold, they go and trade the HIGHEST of those 3 picks to move up 11 spots in the NFL draft to take DJ Chark. Giving up that kind of capital for that caliber of player is absurd, and it might be the most inexplicable trade in League of Leagues to date. Some of the other of The BamO’s trades have at least some rationale, but I’m not sure what about DJ Chark has Sam and Ez that interested.

That NBA draft pick is a great asset and he could have used it in a trade EARLIER in the draft to get an ACTUAL player. Heck, if he would have just put his 4th Round NBA picks up on the block, he could have gotten trades straight up for that pick without giving his 5th Round NFL back to.

This is highway robbery for Las Cabras who took Trey McBride with that pick, a guy they likely would have taken in the 4th Round anyways.
