NFL In-Season Trades

(9/15/21) DTC Porkchop Express trades Taylor Heinecke and Alexander Mattison

to

MN Moose Knuckles for $8 NBA Budget

@Craig McCall trade grade: C+
@Chris Hall trade grade: C-

Trade Summary:
Our first even trade of the year! @Chris Hall is sacrificing a tad too much NBA Budget, but it's still not a bad deal. He's just not getting anybody worth keeping for that $8 of NBA. @Craig McCall finally takes some of his football assets and puts them towards a different sport. His ranking in season-long dynasty should go up. (edited)

(9/25/21) The Shepherd Goods Choppers trade Jacoby Brissett

to

Win’s Up Doc for Mark Ingram and Phillip Lindsay

@Jordan Dye trade grade: C+
@Pat mcgonagill trade grade: C-Trade Summary:

Dr. Down Bad traded his case of the fantasy blues to Jordan in this trade. After Christian McCaffrey’s injury and the League of Leagues on @Jordan Dye self-harm watch, he swings a trade to get any running back with a heartbeat while Pat gets a 1-week fill-in and QB. Jordan needed season-long RB help, so he gets a slight edge in this deal. But it’s a smart deal for Pat.

(10/5/21) The Ornery Otters trade Damien Williams (RB, CHI)

to

Las Cabras for $5 MLB Budget

@Korey Koob trade grade: B
@Trevor Pearson/@Jordan Sinclair trade grade: C-

Trade Summary:
This type of trade is becoming a trend in the League of Leagues. A starting RB goes down, and a team forks over a bit of budget for the backup. However, a little bit of budget doesn't impact things too much in these drafts. @Chris Hall had a great draft despite being down in budget. The Pullies could have done better with their $5 while it felt like @Ooms and @Craig McCall left value on the board. It's hard to give up budget for a player who doesn't have long-term value, but it's a safe play for Las Cabras who have a chance to win the league this year.

(10/6/21) DTC Porkchop Express trades Josh Jacobs (RB, LV) and Diontae Johnson (WR, PIT)

to

The BamOs for Alvin Kamara (RB, NO)

@Craig McCall trade grade: B
@BamO trade grade: C+

Trade Summary:
It feels like @BamO could have gotten more for Kamara, but in the League of Leagues, depth is king. @BamO is looking towards the bye weeks, where he needs multiple players to stay afloat. Too bad he spent too much on Kamara.@Craig McCall has depth at WR, so this is a great deal. But top-ranked RBs don’t deliver the same value in the League of Leagues as they do in regular leagues.Good trade for both teams.

(10/15/21) DTC Porkchop Express trades $2 MLB Budget

to

Sporty Strauss for Geno Smith (QB, SEA)

@Craig McCall trade grade: A-
@Michael Strauss trade grade: D+

Trade Summary:
This trade is under market compared to some other deals. If backup RBs are going for $5 MLB budget, one would think a backup QB, especially on a team with pass-catching options like Seattle does, would go for a similar price. Sporty Strauss blew $100 of budget on Geno. Getting only $2 of MLB back seems quite low with some of the QB need around the league. Win's Up Doc is running out of Brisset time. The BamOs were the team that lost Russ and don't have another QB option. And every team around the league should be bidding on QBs before BYEPOCALYPSE hits next week.Craig needs a QB this week, and it feels like he'll be able to get similar value for Geno Smith next week. Strauss did not seem to maximize value with this trade.

(10/16/21) The Pullies trade Ben Roethlisberger (QB, PIT) and their 16th Round NBA Draft Pick

to

The BamOs for Nyheim Hines (RB, IND) and his 14th Round NBA Draft Pick.

@Peter / @Eric Herm trade grade: C-
@BamO trade grade: B+

Trade Summary:
The Pullies finally traded a QB, but it’s too little too late. With an 0-5 record, The Pullies are toast. Instead of going for future assets, they target a desperation play at RB and a tiny little pick swap in NBA. Roethlisberger is terrible, and only has 11 more games left as an NFL starter, so it’s nice to get something for him. But they might have gotten a better 2022 return if they had waited for Ben to gain valueFor The BamOs, this deal is solid. The only unfortunate part is that Roethlisberger’s BYE is next week, so he will still be scrambling for a starter. But getting a QB for that return is a smart move for Sam.

(10/27/21) Las Cabras trade Kirk Cousins (QB, MIN), Dawson Knox (TE, BUF), and Marquez Valdes-Scantling

to

$traight Cash Homie for Sam Darnold (QB, CAR), George Kittle, Chase Edmonds, and $3 MLB Budget.

@Trevor Pearson / @Jordan Sinclair trade grade: A+
@Jack Bennett trade grade: F-

Trade Summary:
Kirk Cousins is a good player having a good year, but the Vikings opening schedule against defenses is inflating his value quite a bit. Besides Cousins’ long-term prospects are a little muddied, and who knows how long he is on MN’s roster at this point. This is a heavy price to pay for Kirk Cousins from @Jack Bennett. The only other real player Jack received was Dawson Knox though MVS being thrown into the deal isn’t a bad draw, especially if he can play this week.George Kittle is the huge question mark here. Kittle is the game’s best TE when healthy, but that hasn’t happened for years and probably won’t be the case this year. But Las Cabras upgrading at TE without giving up Noah Fant is excellent business from them. Now they’re in a position to turn around before the NFL offseason draft and trade Fant or Kittle for a pretty penny (or just keep them both).Las Cabras’ NBA dynasty prospects are astounding when you break down their roster. And the rich only get richer with this trade. Now they have a great test: when to start selling off football players to help in NBA.A final note: why is @Jack Bennett trading $3 MLB Budget in this one? If he had negotiated harder, he could have gotten more than that FROM Las Cabras to make this trade more even.

(10/27/21) Wait ’Til Next Year trades James Conner (RB, ARI)

to

$traight Cash Homie for Kenny Golladay (WR, NYG)

@Ooms trade grade: B-
@Jack Bennett trade grade: C

Trade Summary:
A straight one-for-one! An easy trade to digest. Wait ‘Til Next Year is living up to his namesake with this one. In dynasyt, an RB for a WR tends to lose value on your team right away and gain value over the course of many years, so Kyle wins this. But @Jack Bennett needs an RB after trading Chase Edmonds away without getting an RB in return.On the PPR Superflex dynasty rankings, Kenny Golladay is ranked 99th and James Conner is ranked 133rd (which is outside of keeper territory). That also supports @Ooms’ savviness here.Two trades from @Jack Bennett that grade unfavorably for him. It’ll be interesting to watch as he is now in the absolute thick of a a dense playoff race.

(11/4/21) MN Moose Knuckles trades

  • Dalvin Cook (RB, MIN)

  • Alexander Mattison (RB, MIN)

  • Tyrod Taylor (QB, HOU)

  • Buddy Hield (SG/SF, SAC)

  • $10 MLB Budget

  • 2022 Draft: Last Two Picks NFL + Last Round Pick in NBA and MLB

to The BamO's for

  • Derrick Henry, (RB, TEN)

  • 2022 NFL 1st Round Pick

  • 2022 NBA 1st Round Pick

  • 2022 MLB 1st Round Pick

  • 2022 NFL 4th Round Pick

@Chris Hall trade grade: C
@BamO trade grade: C

Trade Summary:
Our first 3-sport trade!!! @BamO goes all in this year, trading his first round pick in all 3 sports for Dalvin Cook and Buddy Hield. It's a trade both teams had to make. It would have been hard for the Moose Knuckles to turn down draft picks in all 3 sports in any deal he made this year.While Dalvin Cook is probably the top RB in NFL fantasy right now (not by much), he isn't winning the Moose Knuckles any games. @Chris Hall has accepted his lot as the worst team in the NFL portion of the League of Leagues, and starts playing for next season.@BamO gets a jolt to his lineup this week. Tyrod Taylor is an acceptable spot-start QB that can hold down the fort until Rodgers gets back from the COVID list. But Buddy Hield is the big piece here. Sam desperately needed one more piece in NBA to keep his lineup afloat, and Hield is a solid, consistent performer.All in all, @Chris Hall gets first round picks in each of the 3 sports next season for a Derrick Henry/Dalvin Cook swap, nobody he would have kept in NBA, and $10 MLB. The MLB budget hurts, but Hall is in great shape for 2022 regardless.

(11/21/21) Las Cabras trades Tyler Huntley (QB, BAL)

to

Ornery Otters for Titans D

@Trevor Pearson/@Jordan Sinclair trade grade: C+
@Korey Koob trade grade: B

Trade Summary:
Las Cabras at least got something for a spot start QB (more than @Craig McCall can say about Joe Flacco, but it's not what the going rate for QBs has been. Titans D plays Houston this week, so it definitely improves their chances against The BamOs, but not much more than that.This was ultimately a shrewd move by the Ornery Otters to shore up the QB position in a must-win game when he had two good defense options on his squad. Well done, Korey.

(10/21/21) Sporty Strauss trades Darnell Mooney (WR, CHI)

to

Win's Up Doc for Dillon Brooks (SG/SF, MEM)

@Michael Strauss trade grade: C+
@Pat mcgonagill trade grade: C-

Trade Summary:
Very even trade here. Strauss gets the edge because depth in NBA Fantasy is king, but Oat gets a very nice return for a player that wouldn't have sniffed getting kept in NBA in Dillon Brooks. Mooney likely is a keeper and could be the WR1 in Chicago next year, but NBA assets are precious right now.In the end, this is the type of trade this league is built on. A 4-0 NBA squad trading assets to boost a middle-of-the pack football squad with a 1-3 NBA team who has a 95% chance to make the playoffs in football as things currently stand. Excellent work by both general managers.

(12/12/21) $traight Cash Homie trades 2022 3rd Round NFL

to

MN Moose Knuckles for Sony Michel

@Jack Bennett trade grade: C+
@Chris Hall trade grade: B

Trade Summary:
For context, here are the players you'd expect to be available in the 3rd round of next year's NFL draft (along with some rookies):

  • Terrace Marshall, Jr.

  • Zack Moss

  • Dalton Schultz

  • Ronald Jones

  • Nyheim Hines

  • Hunter Henry

  • DeVante Parker

  • Tyler Higbee

  • Khalil Herbert

  • Cole Kmet

  • Devin Singletary

  • Dawson Knox

  • Jamaal Williams

  • Irv Smith, Jr.

All the best rookies will be taken, so this isn't amazing value. And Hall already has a locked-in dynasty TE, so he can't really take advantage of this round being TE-central.The MN Moose Knuckles NFL team is also positioned worst of the 24 teams total in the League of Leagues. His NFL keepers are in horrid shape (right now). So while getting SOMETHING for an RB like Michel with no long-term value, this isn't some home run trade for Hall.On Jack's side, he absolutely needs a win this week in NFL or he's likely out of the playoffs. Right now, making win-now moves in the League of Leagues is a market inefficiency, because people don't understand the (lack of) value in draft picks. Sure, Hall could hit on a huge rookie with this pick, but the odds of drafting Terrace Marshall is higher than getting lucky with an Elijah Mitchell.

(12/16/21) Shepherd Goods Choppers trades Kellen Mond (+ last round MLB pick)

to

DTC Porkchop Express for 20th Round MLB Pick

@Jordan Dye trade grade: A
@Craig McCall trade grade: D+

Trade Summary:
Big moves!!! Kellen Mond, potentially Kirk's replacement if Zim gets fired goes to a non-Vikings fan for a late-round MLB pick.But an MLB roster is likely to have around 25 regular contributors, so @Jordan Dye wins this trade by getting a pick in the contribution range, so kudos to the Choppers who are preparing themselves to have an MLB draft far better than the NBA one.

(12/16/21) DTC Porkchop Express trades Aaron Jones

to

The BamO's for $6 MLB and 3rd Round MLB Snake Pick (this year)

@Craig McCall trade grade: B+
@BamO trade grade: D+

Trade Summary:
This is the EXACT TYPE OF TRADE this league is built to do. It's a home run for @Craig McCall. RBs are valuable only in the short term. DTC Porkchop Express ran Aaron Jones to the ground this year, saw him get injured, waited for him to come back, watched him play one high-output, low-efficiency game while losing gobs of snaps to AJ Dillon and then shipped that 27-year-old, aging RB out the second before his value goes down significantly after the season.DTC Porkchop Express had 13 great keepers, so he needed to make a move like this at some point, and The BamO's are the only team willing to mortgage next year and MLB for a win-now trade. So while it may not seem like @Craig McCall got optimal value for Aaron Jones who he spent $25 on in the NFL auction, $6 MLB a 3rd Rounder in the MLB Snake Draft (which I'd value at around $7 auction budget), he's recouping a significant portion of that loss in this trade. Don't underestimate snake MLB picks. Those are premium assets as the season goes along. The League of Leagues has seen how potent a good snake draft has been in both sports, and baseball, with even bigger rosters, is even more so that way. This is a good return for DTC.A side benefit for @Craig McCall is that this trade won't haunt him in the playoffs. @BamO will always be on the other side of the bracket.For The BamO's, they're going for it all in NFL, and you've gotta give him some props for that. Aaron Jones is still an effective player, and he should get more effective as the season goes along. @BamO was also a keeper short, so this improves his odds next year (as long as Jones stays healthy and productive).This trade could go either way. @BamO could win it all in football behind Aaron Jones who reclaims his starting job over time. Even one win might make this trade worth it, but @BamO is really hurting in NBA and restricting assets to compete in NBA is going to make his season-long odds very tough.DTC Porkchop Express could lose in football this week without Aaron Jones or Jaylen Waddle, and Jones could be the difference. But the odds that this trade improves his position in baseball is higher than Jones would improve his position in football. That's why he wins this trade hands down.
