Early-May Stock Up / Stock Down Report

Early-May Stock Up / Stock Down Report

Some players throughout the season move up or down in value. Many times, these movements directly correlate towards a change in a team’s rankings. These posts will capture these value change in ALL 3 SPORTS. They’ll primarily focus on in-season players, but if injuries or player movement happens in off-season sports, that’ll be denoted as well.

STOCK UP Players

  1. Jameis Winston (QB, Saints) – Ornery Otters

  2. Jalen Hurts (QB, Eagles) – SG Choppers

  3. JK Dobbins (RB, Ravens) – The Pullies

  4. Rashod Bateman (WR, Ravens) – Cooper Troopers

  5. Mark Andrews (TE, Ravens) – MN Moose Knuckles

  6. Zach Wilson (QB, Jets) – DTC Porkchop Express

  7. Willy Adames (SS, Brewers) – MN Moose Knuckles

  8. Taylor Ward (CO, Angels) – Sporty Strauss

  9. Anthony Rizzo (1B, Yankees) – Ornery Otters

  10. Adolis Garcia (CF/CO, Rangers) – Cooper Troopers

  • Jameis Winston (QB, Saints) – Ornery Otters

    • 121st Overall Dynasty

Not only did the Saints draft two offensive players (including the most NFL-ready WR) that are going to help Winston this year, but they traded their 2023 1st Round Pick and won’t have an opportunity to draft someone to replace Jameis. He’s got a 2-year deal, so the expectation is that Jameis Winston is the starter for the Saints for (at least) two years. Winston is a PRIME trade target in League of Leagues right now. Or, at the very least, the Ornery Otters should be trading some wideouts to free up a keeper spot for Winston, because he’s a bonafide fantasy option right now.

  • Jalen Hurts (QB, Eagles) – SG Choppers

    • 34th Overall Dynasty

There’s a similar equation going on with Jalen Hurts as there is with Winston. The Eagles acquired one of the best WRs in the business, AJ Brown, who’s YAC ability should benefit Hurts greatly. Brown is a much better scheme fit with Hurts than Devonta Smith is. But also, the Eagles traded draft capital for Brown and don’t have quite as much ammo to trade up for a QB next year. The Eagles got better at the draft, and the odds they get a high enough pick to replace Hurts went down, so Dye should be feeling optimistic.

  • JK Dobbins (RB, Ravens) – The Pullies

    • 64th Overall Dynasty

JK Dobbins should be on the trade block, because The Pullies are in a desperate keeper situation and Dobbins just skyrocketed in value after the draft. After missing all of last year, the Ravens still built their draft around Dobbins. They didn't draft another RB until their last pick. They drafted two excellent offensive line draft picks in the first 4 rounds. They loaded up on TEs in the mid-rounds. And not only that, but they surprisingly traded Hollywood Brown, the Ravens other best starter with the ball in his hands. Their offense is going to continue to be based on the run, and Dobbins should benefit greatly. He’s a clear top-10 running back in my mind.

  • Rashod Bateman (WR, Ravens) – Cooper Troopers

    • 50th Overall Dynasty

With the Hollywood trade, Bateman steps in as the best (only?) WR on the team. The Ravens struggle to pass the ball, but Bateman is still a good enough player to crush as a target monster. The Cooper Troopers have another steal.

  • Mark Andrews (TE, Ravens) – MN Moose Knuckles

    • 14th Overall Dynasty

The MN Moose Knuckles held off on making a Mark Andrews deal this offseason, and that was a great decision. He’s neck-and-neck with Kyle Pitts as the most valuable TE in League of Leagues, and he’s going to be the focal point of the Ravens offense. Three straight Ravens players benefit from the Hollywood trade and a lack of options on this offense, and each should be stellar fantasy players next to Lamar Jackson.

  • Zach Wilson (QB, Jets) – DTC Porkchop Express

    • 69th Overall Dynasty (nice)

There’s still doubt as to whether Zach Wilson is good, but we’re going to find out. The (Zach) Wilson to (Garrett) Wilson connection is a great fit, and adding Breece Hall can only help. The defense could improve with two great 1st round selections and a 2nd year under Salah, so Zach Wilson could be in for a surprising season. DTC needs it. He needs one good thing to happen to his long-term prospects in NFL right now.

  • Willy Adames (SS, Brewers) – MN Moose Knuckles

    • 91st Overall Dynasty

    • 55 Points over the last 2 weeks

Willy Adames only went for $4 in the MLB draft, and he’s been the steal of the draft so far. A shortstop getting this much production? Everyone screwed up by not spending more on him. We’ll see if it keeps up, but he’s a lynchpin on a great Brewers team. He might keep it up.

  • Taylor Ward (CO, Angels) – Sporty Strauss

    • ?? Overall Dynasty

    • 65 points over the last 2 weeks (5.4 ppg)

On the other side of the coin, Taylor Ward was an undrafted player who’s paid big dividends in Sporty Strauss’ two game win streak. He’s been hitting leadoff for the Angels and has 5 home runs already this season. This is probably a flash in the pan, but Sporty Strauss can ride it out.

  • Anthony Rizzo (1B, Yankees) – Ornery Otters

    • 162nd Overall Dynasty

    • 48 points over the last 2 weeks (4 ppg)

Anthony Rizzo was lost in the draft shuffle a little bit. He’s now hitting 3rd on the Yankees, a dream lineup position for any player. It’s too bad the Ornery Otters aren’t taking advantage. An 0-3 start with a draft pick like this hurts.

Rizzo probably should enter the trade block soon, because he’s not as promising a keeper option (though he is good enough to keep) and he could help a contender with his bat immediately.

  • Adolis Garcia (CF/CO, Rangers) – Cooper Troopers

    • 183rd Overall Dynasty

    • 44 points over the last 2 weeks (3.7 ppg)

Adolis isn’t in keeper territory yet in terms of his value, but he’s vaulted the Cooper Troopers into playoff contention. He was a 12th round pick in the draft and has returned far better value than that for Johnson so far.

STOCK DOWN Players

  1. Michael Carter (RB, Jets) – DTC Porkchop Express

  2. Kadarius Toney (WR, Seahawks) – Sporty Strauss

  3. Rashaad Penny and Chris Carson (RBs, Seahawks) – Cooper Troopers and Sporty Strauss

  4. Corey Davis (WR, Jets) – SG Choppers

  5. Ryan Tannehill (QB, Titans) – DTC Porkchop Express

  6. Elijah Mitchell (RB, 49ers) – Win’s Up Doc

  7. Mitchell Trubisky (QB, Steelers) – Las Cabras

  8. Curtis Samuel (WR, Commanders) – $traight Cash Homie

  9. Brendan Rodgers (2B/SS, Rockies) – $traight Cash Homie

  10. Jared Walsh (1B, Angels) – Wait ‘Til Next Year

  • Michael Carter (RB, Jets) – DTC Porkchop Express

    • 87th Overall Dynasty

The Jets traded up for Breece Hall which absolutely kills Michael Carter’s fantasy value. Carter is still a decent player, and he has lots of upside. But it’s all capped now. Luckily for DTC Porkchop Express, Carter was already projected to be outside of Craig’s top-10 keepers, so it doesn’t hurt him too bad. He hasn’t traded away too many keepers yet. There’s always a chance Hall or someone gets injured in the preseason for Carter to reclaim value, but right now he’s barely worth a keeper spot and other teams aren’t going to dish much to get him.

  • Kadarius Toney (WR, Seahawks) – Sporty Strauss

    • 103rd Overall Dynasty

The Giants reached for a WR in the 2nd round. And that was after Kadarius Toney already had trade rumors swirling around his name. It looks like his long-term value is piss-poor, though Strauss might be forced into keeping him.

  • Rashaad Penny (RB, Seahawks) – Cooper Troopers

    • 105th Overall Dynasty

  • Chris Carson (RB, Seahawks) – Sporty Strauss

    • 185th Overall Dynasty

Chris Carson already had limited value and won’t be kept, but Rashaad Penny was looking like a steal for the Cooper Troopers. No longer after the drafting of Kenneth Walker III in the 2nd round by the Seahawks. Now, Coop should still be on the lookout for another keeper (or he could keep Penny and try to draft Kenneth Walker to lock up the backfield. It’s a bummer for Coop, but not the end of the world.

  • Corey Davis (WR, Jets) – SG Choppers

    • 153rd Overall Dynasty

The SG Choppers were already hurting for keepers. He was hoping that Corey Davis could be a low-level keeper, but now Davis is unkeepable altogether after the drafting of Garrett Wilson this year and Elijah Moore last year. The Jets have lots of skill position players now, believe it or not, and Corey Davis is left holding the bag right now.

  • Ryan Tannehill (QB, Titans) – DTC Porkchop Express

    • 89th Overall Dynasty

Drafting Malik Willis does not bode well for Ryan Tannehill. It’s not a death sentence, especially in the 3rd round, but there’s a non-zero chance Tannehill gets benched at the end of this year. Then next year, when we move into full dynasty in NFL, Tannehill won’t be a locked and loaded starting QB moving forward. There are a lot of question marks surrounding his future.

  • Elijah Mitchell (RB, 49ers) – Win’s Up Doc

    • 70th Overall Dynasty

The 49ers drafted Tyrion David-Price in the 3rd round. Shanahan needed another back after losing Mostert in free agency, Trey Sermon being the worst RB ever drafted and Deebo wanting less of a role in the ground game. Even still, this casts a pall over electric 2nd-year RB Elijah Mitchell, who might not get quite as much work as we thought this season.

  • Mitchell Trubisky (QB, Steelers) – Las Cabras

    • 233rd Overall Dynasty

There was a chance a LoL team could have traded for Trubisky at the last second if they needed a QB, but the Steelers were always going to draft a QB, so this isn’t a huge shock. Trubisky still has a shot a the starting job, and Las Cabras will be watching Steelers pre-season games intently. But his ceiling is capped now.

  • Curtis Samuel (WR, Commanders) – $traight Cash Homie

    • 172nd Overall Dynasty

$traight Cash Homie could have hoped for Samuel to have a healthy, awesome training camp, but the Commanders reached for Jahan Dotson in the 1st Round of the NFL draft to be their WR2. $traight Cash Homie has a keeper spot (or two) to fix.

  • Brendan Rodgers (2B/SS, Rockies) – $traight Cash Homie

    • 255th Overall Dynasty

    • 9 points over the past 2 weeks (1.8 ppg)

This pick looks like an absolute bust. Rodgers was a 5th round MLB pick taken ahead of guys like Jose Abreu, Mitch Haniger, Kyle Schwarber, Tarik Skull, Giancarlo Stanton and Austin Meadows. It’s maybe too early to overreact, but he’s been ghastly so far.

  • Jared Walsh (1B, Angels) – Wait ‘Til Next Year

    • 145th Overall Dynasty

    • 23 ppg on the season – 17ppg over the 15 days

    • 27 mpg on the season – 21 mpg over the 15 days

Jared Walsh hasn’t performed up to his 6th round snake ADP, but for him, it’s for to early to have any real concerns. MLB is streaky, and Wait ‘Til Next Year is weathering this poor performance well. He’ll turn it around at some point and give Kyle a boost (as some of his other players slump).
