December Season-Long Power Rankings

Note: Every month, something like this will get posted about what the CURRENT Power Rankings are. These will be sure to change every week, but not as drastically as an in-season Power Rankings. The NFL rank is PROBABLE finish. The NBA rank is the current Power Ranking.

(Tier 1) Things have tightened up up top SIGNIFICANTLY to the point where Wait ‘Til Next Year is no longer the top-ranked team. DTC Porkchop Express’ mad dash to the playoffs, including an impressive 8-game winning streak, cements him as the favorite. But his first-round draw of Sporty Strauss and second-round draw of Las Cabras puts a damper on his prospects. If he makes it to the championship game, it’s going to be difficult, and he’ll have earned it. His NBA team is really what’s giving him the best chance to compete here.

Sporty Strauss is in a similar category to DTC Porkchop Express. These are the two teams currently in the playoffs for both sports, so they deserve the top-two spots. It’s as simple as that. So their playoff game this week holds MASSIVE season-long repercussions in the League of Leagues. Craig’s NBA team is better, so he holds the top spot.

Wait ‘Til Next Year is firmly in that same group though, but it requires projecting his baseball skill from other leagues.

Las Cabras are interesting as well. With 9 guaranteed points in Football, it’s tempting to go for broke in these other leagues. But it’s hard for them to do both without sacrificing SIGNIFICANT NFL value for players they likely won’t keep. So that’s their cost/benefit analysis. There’s no guarantee they can fix their NBA roster in what is a crowded field, and they’ll be sacrificing the future of their team to do so. But as favorites in NFL and $4000 on the line, it’s hard to decide what to do. They are in the trickiest spot.

The BamO’s have already gone all-in, and they secured the coveted BYE. However, their NBA team is floundering and baseball assets are lower than any other team. Sam looks to be in deep trouble, this year and the future without (A) an extended run in football and/or (B) some better odds in the NBA health department.

Last and certainly not least in this tier is the Ornery Otters. They got an excellent playoff draw with the SG Choppers in round 1, but the team might be falling apart with injuries to Hopkins and at the wide receivers. The NBA team is currently out of the playoffs, but still has potential. It just seems that the Otters end up in the middle of this league when it’s all said and done without a streak of luck.

(Tier 2) The November rankings had Wait ‘Til Next Year all alone in Tier 1. This month’s has The Pullies cemented as the only team in Tier 2 mostly due to a resurgent month in the NFL. But a lack of depth and COVID troubles are putting him on shaky ground in a winnable game vs the Cooper Troopers. One more win, and The Pullies could have drawn the MN Moose Knuckles and a far likelier chance to advance in the Consolation Bracket. If they lose this week, their chances of placing are nearly shot with how strong the top-7 teams are. It might be time to rebuild for the future around Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson, MN legends.

(Tier 3) It feels strange to put a team favored to win an NFL playoff game at 9th overall, but it would also be strange not to put a team that is 1-7 in NBA in Tier 3. The SG Choppers absolutely blew his chances on winning the league this year with a beyond horrible NBA draft. With the NBA regular season almost halfway over, the League is getting away from him. If he wins NFL playoff games, his odds of getting one of those top-3 NBA prospects goes down significantly. So the Choppers must proceed with caution.

The MN Moose Knuckles drew Wait ‘Til Next Year, a draw that very well could keep him out of last place (especially if The Pullies can beat the final team on this list). With an NBA team that is no better than below average, all Hall can hope for is more draft picks than he has already manufactured in trades.

$traight Cash Homie had a really solid NFL team, but drew the short stick when it came time for the playoffs. He would have had fun competing, but his NBA team is in dire straits with Zion Williamson’s never-ending injury saga and lack of support around him. So missing the playoffs was a good thing for Jack. He’s begun making moves for next season already, and more moves could be on the way if he gets creative.

Last is the lowly Cooper Troopers who are desperate to win games in NFL to avoid the last place punishment. It might work, but either way… Cooper is not putting himself in a position to succeed for next year by not making some trades for draft picks and better keepers. Expect the Cooper Troopers to be near the bottom of the standings year-after-year if that is the case.

Current Projected Standings:

  1. Win’s Up Doc (21 points)

  2. DTC Porkchop Express (20 points)

  3. Las Cabras (19 points)

  4. The BamO’s (19 points)

  5. Sporty Strauss (17 points)

  6. Wait ‘Til Next Year (15 points)

  7. Ornery Otters (15 points)

  8. The Pullies (12 points)

  9. $traight Cash Homie (8 points)

  10. Shepherd Goods Choppers (7 points)

  11. MN Moose Knuckles (5 points)

  12. Cooper Troopers (5 points)
