NFL Week 2 Preview

Division play is in full swing. Each division has the same record. Two 1-0 teams. Two 0-1 teams. This is the week that starts to get real scary for the winless squads, and perhaps too much excitement for the undefeated. Last week was strange in that almost every projected good team played (and beat) a projected bad team. This week is a little bit more of the same, besides two really juicy matchups.

Week 2 Game Lines
Nolo’s Division

  • Sporty Strauss (2) [1-0] -9 over Ornery Otters (1) [1-0]

  • DTC Porkchop Express (5) [0-1] -8 over Win’s Up Doc (12) [0-1]

Fhima’s Division

  • Las Cabras (4) [1-0] -2 over MN Moose Knuckles (10) [0-1]

  • Cooper Troopers (6) [1-0] -10 over Wait ’Til Next Year (11) [0-1]

Shepherd Goods Division

  • The BamOs (3) [0-1] -5 vs The Pullies (9) [0-1]

  • $traight Cash Homie (9) [1-0] -9 over Shepherd Goods Choppers (7) [1-0]

There are NO huge lines this week like there were last week, would should make for a fascinating week 2 lineup. Everything last week was a blow out, so a close game feels like it's in the cards somewhere along these matchups. Nobody is favored more than 10 points right now. That might change tonight, but I'm not sure how many people are starting many players from Skins/Giants on TNF besides Saquon, Gibson and McLaurin.

Also, we have a battle of the top-2 teams in the Power Rankings! A rarity. They are in the same division, no less. It's not the Matchup of the Week, because both of these teams are in great shape early in the season. But each has a great chance to cement his status as top dog. @Korey Koob, in particular, can solidify his position within the League of Leagues with wins against DTC Porkchop Express and Sporty Strauss, both top-4 teams after the draft, before entering non-divisional play. It'd be hard to take him down. There are also two matchups of winless teams this week. DTC Porkchop Express and Win's Up Doc is the one. @Pat mcgonagill is already in trouble, but @Craig McCall will be in DIRE straits if he loses a game to Dr. Down Bad this early in the season (with a matchup against @Michael Strauss next week). That'd be a disastrous for a team that sold out in baseball to succeed in football, though a trade for NBA budget does help his long-term prognosis in the League of Leagues.

The BamOs and Pullies are in a similar predicament. @BamO cannot afford to go down 0-2, and it could be a death knell for @Peter and @Eric Herm to claw their way out of an 0-2 hole. The Shepherd Goods Division looks tougher than expected with @Jordan Dye and @Jack Bennett having solid teams to start the season.

Week 2 Matchup of the Week
$traight Cash Homie (9) -9 over Shepherd Goods Choppers (7)

QB1 – Lamar Jackson (KC) vs Patrick Mahomes (BAL)
QB2 – Sam Darnold (NO) vs Jalen Hurts (SF)

RB1 – Darrell Henderson (@IND) vs Christian McCaffrey (NO)
RB2 – Miles Sanders (SF) vs James Robinson (DEN)

WR1 – Tyreek Hill (@BAL) vs Adam Thielen (@ARI)
WR2 – Ja'Marr Chase (@CHI) vs Corey Davis (NE)

TE – George Kittle (@PHI) vs Hunter Henry (@ NYJ)

FLEX1 – Chase Edmonds (MIN) vs Tim Patrick (@JAX)
FLEX2 – Kenny Golladay (@WAS) vs DJ Chark (DEN)

D/ST – Browns (HOU) vs Panthers (NO)

$traight Cash Homie: Advantage at 7/10 positions
Shepherd Goods Choppers: Advantage at 3/10 positions

Notes: First of all, @Jordan Dye shouldn't be considered massively unfavored at many of these positions. The only positions that @Jack Bennett has CLEAR advantages on are Tight End and Defense, so @Jordan Dye should be competitive. Besides, the Choppers are built on a big-3 (Mahomes, CMC, Hurts) and the rest is just meant to get him by each week. Jordan has that particularly the next few weeks with Jerry Jeudy's injury and the ability to throw Tim Patrick into his lineup.

@Jack Bennett is a bit more balanced, but this is one week where it hurts BAD to only have 2 QBs on his roster. Darnold played fine in week 1, but there's a chance he tanks the Homie's lineup against New Orleans' solid defense. Hurts' matchup is tough too. In general, @Jack Bennett has much better matchups than @Jordan Dye, who will need to rely on another big game from Adam Thielen to stay competitive.

And a major reason this is the matchup of the week: the Sunday Night Football game! KC vs BAL. Mahomes vs Lamar. Both starting QBs headline this squad. Jordan has Mahomes. Jack has Tyreek. That Sunday night will dictate a lot of what happens in this matchup (unless Jack has already put the game out of reach for Jordan).
