NFL Week 11 Preview

Week 11 Matchups

  • Shepherd Goods Choppers (1) EVEN vs DTC Porkchop Express (4)

  • Las Cabras (2) -7 vs The BamOs (5)

  • Sporty Strauss (3) -13 vs $traight Cash Homie (6)

  • Ornery Otters (7) -14 vs MN Moose Knuckles (12)

  • Win’s Up Doc (10) +11 vs Cooper Troopers (8)

  • Wait ’Til Next Year (9) +11 vs The Pullies (11)

Throughout most of the year, good teams played bad teams disproportionately. But that’s all changing now. This week, ALL the top-6 teams play each other. A crazy schedule quirk for the final week of non-divisional play this season. That being said, most of these teams should feel decently comfortable with their playoff positioning. It’d take a really bad stretch to knock them off, even though there are 7 competing teams.

So even with all of these tight, big dog matchups, no team in the top-7 is in this week’s Matchup of the Week. That is reserved for a loser leaves town match of epic proportions.

Win’s Up Doc: Advantage at 4/10 positions
Cooper Troopers: Advantage at 6/10 positions

This might seem like an odd choice for the Matchup of the Week, but it’s not. This matchup sets the stage for a late-season surge by one of these teams. With $traight Cash Homie and Ornery Otters faltering in a huge way and all of the top-6 teams battling it out this week, the door is cracked open for Win’s Up Doc or Cooper Troopers to slide their little slinkers into the playoffs.

HOWEVER, whoever loses this matchup is essentially OUT of playoff contention. This is firmly a “loser leaves town” match. Winner is back into playoff contention. Loser goes home and begins to think about next season.

There is even more than that at stake, though. Whoever wins this matchup ALSO gets closer to a consolation BYE even if he misses the playoffs. That means that team won’t be one of the bottom-2 scoring teams in NFL, which would be important for Win’s Up Doc who continues his blitzkrieg in NBA.

On the flip side, the Cooper Troopers have a MUCH better chance to make a run in NFL. Fhima’s Division in the entire league is a little bit of a shot show right now, as Coop would call it. Coop plays the following teams this season:

  1. Win’s Up Doc (this Matchup of the Week)

  2. Las Cabras (tough matchup)

  3. Wait ‘Til Next Year (lowest-scoring team in the league)

  4. MN Moose Knuckles (worst roster in the league)

So if Cooper wins this week, he has an excellent chance to finish the season at .500 and knock $traight Cash Homie, specifically, out of the last playoff spot. That’s who Cooper Troopers really need to lose: Jack. With a head to head against him, Coop would win a tiebreaker. Coop could also win a tiebreaker over Las Cabras, but they also play Wait ‘Til Next Year and MN Moose Knuckles in divisional play so it’s almost impossible for Las Cabras to drop that far. But Coop, believe it or not, is 2nd in the league in total points scored. His team is not bad, and could definitely play a role in the weeks to come.

Win’s Up Doc, on the other hand, has a tough schedule the rest of the way. The flip side to that, however, is that Pat has a chance to unseat teams that he needs to beat.

  1. Cooper Troopers (this Matchup of the Week)

  2. Ornery Otters (4th in points)

  3. DTC Porkchop Express (6th in points)

  4. Sporty Strauss (7th in points)

That schedule isn’t what Oat would want. HOWEVER, he already has wins over DTC Porkchop Express AND Ornery Otters. If he can beat Coop, and THEN beat both of those teams, it almost locks him into a playoff spot. Even beating just one of them is would give him a shot. It’s a hard road for the Doc, but he shouldn’t feel like he is completely out of it (and he should potentially think about improving his sorry receiver position this week while trading some of his newfound depth at quarterback).
