(Tier 1) Just as in real life, COVID has swept through the League of Leagues like a storm this week causing uneven finishes. Win’s Up Doc (1) lost its first game of the year. They are no longer ANY undefeated teams in the League of Leagues. But due to those temporary health issues, they cannot move down in the rankings. In fact, none of the TOP-5 teams moved whatsoever, including Wait ‘Til Next Year (2) who should get Kyrie partially back after his 10-day COVID bout is over and DTC Porkchop Express (3). Tier 1 standings are really locking into shape.

(Tier 2) We’ll start at the bottom here. The BamO’s (8) season is on a knife’s edge right now, with ESPN giving him a measly 23% chance at making the playoffs. His team was very productive throughout the first month-and-a-half of the season, but injuries have completely tanked his squad. Playoffs look like a long shot and, since he’s sacrificed his MLB assets to win in football and basketball, his season could slip out of reach very fast if he’s not careful. Beating the MN Moose Knuckles (7), who hold the last playoff spot, was imperative. Sam was only 40 points shy of a win too, and any little trade in basketball this week might have helped.. Now Sam has a really tough stretch off his schedule, and things look terrible for the future of The BamO’s.

The Ornery Otters (6) got back into the winning business this week, but the Cooper Troopers (11) didn’t field anything close to an acceptable lineup this week.

The Pullies (5) pulled that upset, and are in excellent position with a 3-game lead over The BamO’s for the division. The Pullies are earmarked for the 3-seed right now unless something major changes, but don’t expect much playoff success from the 6th-ranked team in points right now. The team isn’t that impressive.

But in the tops of Tier 2 is Sporty Strauss (4), who might be cementing himself as THE FAVORITE to win the League of Leagues this year. With a win in round 1 of the football playoffs and an NBA team that is on a 5-game win streak, Sporty Strauss is a force to be reckoned with. However, the Nolo’s gauntlet might be too much for a division or a BYE, and DTC Porkchop Express and Sporty Strauss are LIKELY HEADED to another round 1 playoff matchup.

Strauss-Porkchops is the #1 rivalry in the League of Leagues right now.

(Tier 3) Las Cabras (9) has taken advantage of matchups where it can, but now begins the gauntlet part of the schedule. With two matchups against Win’s up Doc in the next month, Las Cabras must take advantage of The BamO’s’ injury woes to challenge the Knuckles for that final playoff seed. Luckily, Las Cabras still has games against the Ornery Otters and Moose Knuckles to try to reclaim ground. They just need to weather this next month.

The rest of the teams in the League of Leagues NBA are barely worth discussing until they can start challenging these teams or playing their weekly plays.

Week 9 High Score

  • DTC Porkchop Express (Craig)

  • 1353 points

Notes: The lowest-scoring high score in months. Not a surprise with the COVID week, but DTC takes advantage with his 7th straight win! Congrats to the guy.

Week 9 Low Score (AKA the JordJack Award)

  • Shepherd Goods Choppers (Jordan)

  • 958

Notes: As mentioned before, the Cooper Troopers only playing 40 is disappointing to say the least. Unacceptable. There was a chance to win with 10 more plays in this matchup. His players would have only needed to average 21.5 points per game to win.

Week 9 MVP

  • Dillon Brooks

  • Sporty Strauss (Strauss)

  • 140 points

Notes: A trade that looked questionable at times has swung Sporty Strauss’ way several times over the past two weeks. He traded Darnell Mooney straight up for Dillon Brooks. Mooney scored less than 2 points against Strauss last week in his game to make the playoffs, and this week Dillon Brooks scored 140 points on the week as a mostly reserve player. He won by 80 and Brooks was the difference.

Week 9 LVP(s)

  • Ben McLemore

  • The BamO’s (Sam)

  • -1 points

Notes: Playing someone in your lineup who scores negative points in only 4 minutes of actions is a death sentence. Sure The BamO’s were banged up, but there has to be a little bit more research to be done than to play a player like that.

  • Sporty Strauss [6-3] (4th) vs The BamO’s [3-6] (8th)

We’re getting close to do-or-die territory for The BamO’s, who are all in, meanwhile Sporty Strauss has become the favorite in the entire League, but doesn’t have a BYE in either sport. Every win counts for Strauss, as he doesn’t want to have what happened in football happen in NBA, where he has a massive losing streak towards the end of the season.
