Las Cabras trade grade: F
Win’s Up Doc trade grade: A+

Trade Summary:
An ‘F’ is too harsh of a grade for Las Cabras objectively, but right now, Las Cabras are tied for 2nd in season-long points with the team they just traded with. Yes, Win’s Up Doc has clinched a BYE and a minimum of 9 points in MLB, but the principle still stands: Las Cabras are choosing to tank whilst they have one of the better chances to place and cash out than most teams.

It’s one of the most befuddling things about this League of Leagues season: three teams who are best suited to place just don’t care about 3rd or 4th place – Las Cabras, DTC Porkchop Express and Wait ‘Til Next Year (but to a lesser extent). More than anything else, this is what is responsible for this extreme buyer’s market that we’re seeing.

So when a team that could place sells off, it’s hard to give them anything but an F! If this were a team truly out of contention – Pullies, Choppers, or even the Porkchops – this is much closer to a ‘C.’

On the other side of the ledger, Win’s Up Doc just got significantly better. With the 1-seed locked up, it’s time for him to start looking towards the playoffs. Luis Arraez gives him an excellent situational bat that will rarely put up stinkers in his lineup. He’s averaging just under 3ppg, which would be good for 7th on his already-stellar lineup. He’s someone Oat can cheat for at games too.

Cristian Javier is a starter from Oat’s true favorite team. He’s an interesting acquisition and slots in as probably Pat’s SP5 down the stretch – the matchups aren’t spectacular in the 2nd round of the playoffs. He’ll probably draw @ATL in round 2. Then vs MIN in the championship. That’s fine. It’s definitely worth it, but there were more interesting options out there if he’d researched.

But Clasé is probably what makes this deal. In the playoffs, excellent relief pitching is going to be a bit underrated. Oat can sit some of his relievers when he wants, target some games and rely on three stellar closers to get the requisite plays. He was an early pick and is a #HUNK. All 3 of these guys are actually just outside keeper territory, and might have minor value after the season is over.
